New 2019 Audi A6 Breaks Cover – Rolling Off Production Line In June

Audi has just presented the new eighth generation A6 sedan, bringing numerous new innovations to the table.

The German carmaker is offering the new A6 with two powertrain options – a 3.0L TFSI V6 turbo engine producing 340 hp and 500 Nm, and a 3.0L TDI turbo diesel engine kicking out 286 hp and 620 Nm of maximum torque.

While the 3.0 TDI is paired with an eight-speed tiptronic, the 3.0 TFSI is coupled as standard with a seven-speed S tronic. The two engines are equipped as standard with the quattro all-wheel drive.

All engines in the new A6 come with Audi’s new mild-hybrid technology, where a belt alternator starter (BAS) works together with a lithium-ion battery, reducing fuel consumption by up to 0.7 liters per 100 kilometers.

For the first time, the A6 will feature four-wheel steering that can dial in up to 5 degrees of counter-steering at slow speeds for better maneuverability, or in sync with the front wheels at high speeds for better handling.

Moving on to the exterior, the new A6 sports Audi’s new design language, featuring a long hood, a wide, low-slung single frame grille, flat headlights, and contoured air inlets.

Audi is offering three different versions of headlights for the new A6, with the top-of-the-line version getting the HD Matrix LED headlights.

Inside, the new A6 features a black-panel design, with a sleek instrument panel, a redesigned centre console, and two ambient lighting packages.

With regards to legroom in the rear, Audi claims that the new A6 beats the outgoing model and also its core competitors. The headroom and shoulder room in the front and rear are also superior to the outgoing model.

The luggage compartment offers more loading width as well – two golf bags can be accommodated horizontally. The capacity remains unchanged at 530 liters.

In terms of features, the A6 now comes with the new all-digital MMI touch response system. With extensive intelligent personalization options, up to seven drivers can store their preferred settings in individual user profiles, configuring as many as 400 parameters.

Other features offered in the car includes new seats, the natural-language control, MMI navigation, the new LTE Advanced system, Parking Pilot, Garage Pilot, Park Assist, Adaptive Cruise Assist, and a trunk lid that can be opened with a kicking motion.

That being said, the new A6 is all set to roll off Audi’s assembly line in Neckarsulm by June 2018, and will be launched in a few European markets in the third quarter of the year.

The paint range for the new A6 offers a choice of 14 colors, seven of which are new. In addition to the basic version, customers have a choice of the two sport and design exterior trim lines as well as the S line exterior package.
