Paris 2016: 2017 All-New Kia Rio World Debut

The all-new Kia Rio, Kia’s global best seller, makes its world debut today at the Paris Motor Show. The Kia Rio now enters its fourth generation and will build on the outgoing model’s key strengths – sporty design, low running costs and good practicality.

The Rio’s new exterior and interior design was led by Kia’s design centres in Germany and California, in close collaboration with the company’s domestic design base in Namyang, Korea. The new design language is said to be more progressive yet mature looking than the outgoing model.

Kia also claims the interior is the most spacious in its class, with 325-litres of cargo space (VDA).

The Rio is powered by a range of gasoline and diesel engines. In particular, the company’s latest three-cylinder 1.0-liter T-GDI (turbo gasoline direct injection) engine. The lighter engine also contributes to nippier handling, according to Kia

The Rio will offer both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, and will be the first car in its class to offer Autonomous Emergency Braking with pedestrian recognition.

Globally, the all-new Rio will be manufactured at Kia’s Sohari manufacturing facility in Korea and the new Pesqueria manufacturing base in Mexico. The fourth-generation Rio goes on sale globally during the first quarter of 2017.
