2016 Perodua Bezza

The first Perodua Bezza was first introduced in 2016, an A-segment sedan built on an expanded Axia platform, emphasizes local roots with 95% local content, differing from global counterparts of Daihatsu and Toyota. It features new aluminum-built engines, a 1.0-liter three-cylinder and a 1.3-liter four-cylinder, contributing to its claim as an energy-efficient vehicle (EEV).

The Perodua Bezza comes in three trim levels: the 1.0 Standard G with essential features, the 1.3 Premium X adding extra amenities, and the top-tier Bezza full spec Advance 1.3 offering Bezza advanced features like auto start/stop and electronic stability control.

Perodua Bezza Limited Edition Launched

The Perodua Bezza has become a common presence on Malaysian streets, with more than 145,000 units of this compact sedan sold since it was introduced in 2016. With that being said, Perodua took the opportunity to introduce the Bezza Limited Edition at the Malaysia Autoshow in 2019.

This limited-edition model is based on the top-of-the-line Bezza Premium X and was featured with the exclusive GearUp accessories. The main hue is Ivory White, enhanced by a matte black GearUp body kit featuring a red pinstripe running along its lower edges. With a touch of sportiness, it includes a matte blacked-out roof, dark grey alloys, and a black rear spoiler.

The package is finalized with red-painted door mirror covers and geometric graphics on the bonnet and lower sides. Inside, the air vent surrounds are red, complementing the red-themed interior that includes stitching on the GearUp seat covers and GearUp coil mats. Priced at RM 44,890, this limited edition Perodua Bezza model certainly offers a good deal considering the included features.
 

2020 Perodua Bezza - Sharper Looks, ASA 2.0 Drops In

To commence the new decade, Perodua unveiled a substantially enhanced range of its well-received Bezza model in 2020. At the time, the Perodua Bezza had achieved sales exceeding 184,000 units since its introduction in 2016. The all-new Bezza now features updated front and rear designs, along with essential safety enhancements. This new 4-door sedan aims to bolster its significant presence on Malaysian roads.

The 2020 Perodua Bezza was priced starting from RM34,680 for its basic 1.0 G model with a 5-speed manual transmission, followed by RM49,980 for the top-tier full Bezza spec 1.3 (AV) Advance with a 4-speed automatic transmission. Overall, there was an increase in the pricing of Perodua Bezza models, leading to the discontinuation of the 2019 Perodua Bezza 1.3 Premium X MY spec.
 

Color options included Ivory White, Glittering Silver, Ocean Blue, Sugar Brown, and Granite Grey. A new Garnet Red shade, exclusively available on 1.3-litre variants, added a sportier and bolder look, especially when combined with Perodua's GearUp accessory package.

Visual differentiators between the 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre variants included front fog lamps (halogens) and larger 15-inch two-tone alloys for the 1.3-litre, while the 1.0-litre had 14-inchers.

Next-gen Perodua Bezza - To be launched by 2025

In 2023, Perodua announced plans for the upcoming new generation of the Perodua Bezza or a compact sedan model, set to launch within the next two to three years. 

Perodua’s president and CEO, Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad, revealed this development at the Asian Compact Sedan Design Competition (ACSDC 2023). In the upcoming years, Perodua will undergo comprehensive redesign efforts for the Bezza model, with the fully overhauled version expected to be available in the market as soon as 2024.

In close collaboration with the Malaysian Design Council (MRM), Perodua aims not only to host the Asian Compact Sedan Design Competition but also to gather inspiration for creating a more ASEAN-oriented design for the next generation of the Perodua Bezza. This initiative serves as a platform to engage with a pool of young talents and ideas, nurturing the potential to create more appealing Perodua models in the future.
