2016 Ford Everest Previewed at 1U Roadshow

The Malaysian versions of Ford’s latest large SUV, the Everest, is currently on display at the Ford Going Further Roadshow happening at 1 Utama shopping centre in Petaling Jaya from today until next Monday, 2 May.

Based on the Ranger T6’s sophisticated running gear, the all-new Everest is a multi-fold advancement over its rugged but crude predecessor. Power comes from the same 2.2-litre four-cylinder and 3.2-litre five-cylinder engines as featured in the Ranger.

Two trim levels are offered for the Malaysian market as follows:

  • Trend: 2.2-litre, 160PS, 385Nm, 6-speed auto, RWD
  • Titanium: 3.2-litre, 200PS, 470Nm, 6-speed auto, Part-time 4WD

Official prices have yet to be announced, but a salesperson we spoke to at the roadshow gave us indicated prices of RM200k and RM280k for the 2.2- and 3.2-litre variants respectively.

The 3.2-litre model’s 4WD system features electronically switchable drive modes – 2H, 4H, 4L – and is complemented by a Terrain Management System that allows the driver optimize the driveline settings for Road, Sand, Snow, and Extreme Rocky conditions.

The Everest Trend 2.2-litre comes standard with the following features:

  • 18-inch alloy wheels
  • Front and rear fog lamps
  • Halogen projector headlamps, manual levelling adjustment
  • Dual zone climate control
  • Rear air-con vents
  • Cruise Control, Speed Limiter
  • Ford SYNC with Bluetooth, USB, iPod connectivity
  • Fabric upholstery
  • Dual frontal, knee airbags
  • Parking sensors, rear only

Opting for the 3.2-litre Titanium model adds the following:

  • 20-inch alloy wheels
  • Auto-leveling HID headlamps
  • Rear air-con vents with independent control
  • Ford SYNC 2 with 8-inch colour touchscreen; Bluetooth, USB, iPod connectivity
  • Leather upholstery and trim
  • Side and curtain airbags
  • Parking sensors, front and rear, plus reverse camera
  • Auto wipers
  • 230V power socket
  • Electrochromic rear view mirror
  • 8-way driver seat power adjustment
  • Power folding third row seats

We have yet to been officially informed of a launch date by Ford representatives. To know more about the Everest, read our regional media drive review of it from Chiang Rai last year.
