BMW Malaysia today announced that it has started taking orders for the 2018 BMW X2 compact SUV, due to make its Malaysian debut within the coming months.
Details are already available on BMW Malaysia’s official website and from what we can see, the X2 will be offered here in only one trim level – the front-wheel drive sDrive20i M Sport, fully imported from Germany.
Powering the X2 sDrive20i M Sport is BMW’s B48 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol engine which produces 192 hp and 280 Nm of maximum torque, paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission which sends all the power to the front wheels.
On the exterior, key features include the M Aerodynamics package, 19-inch M light alloy wheels, lowered M Sport suspension, BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line, M logo on the sides, and an M rear spoiler.
Inside, the X2 sDrive20i M Sport gets M door sill finishers, M driver footrest, leather sport seats, M Leather steering wheel, BMW Individual headliner Anthracite, Aluminium Hexagon trim, a shortened gear lever with M designation, exclusive LED optical fibre in the door trims, as well as a key fob with exclusive M logo.
Other standard features include LED headlights and fog lights, Comfort Access keyless entry, automatic air-conditioning, Parking Assistant, a head-up display, GPS system with an 8.8-inch screen, a powered tailgate and also a reverse camera.
As the X2 is positioned as a sportier alternative to the RM230,800 (excluding insurance) locally-assembled X1, coupled by its fully-imported status, it has a significantly higher price tag, at RM320,000 excluding insurance.
