Nissan’s mold-breaking compact crossover – originally launched in 2010 – now gets a renewed lease on life with a funky new design, new powertrains, and latest generation infotainment and connectivity systems. The all-new Juke has grown in size – now measuring 4,210 mm in length (up 85 mm), 1,800mm in width (up 170 mm), and 1,595 mm in height (up 25 mm) – and is underpinned by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance’s CMF-B Platform which also underpins the 2019 Renault Clio and Captur model. Despite growing in size, the Juke has actually shed weight, approximately 23 kg, courtesy of some high-strength but lightweight metals in the construction of the platform and body. The Juke’s wheelbase is also 105 mm longer than its predecessor, creating a much roomier cabin space both passengers and their cargo. Rear-seat knee room has increased by 58 mm, rear headroom by 11 mm, and the luggage capacity has grown to 422 litres. Under the hood, Nissan offers a lightweight 1.0-litre, turbocharged 3-cylinder which produces 117PS and 180Nm of torque (200Nm with over torque function). A six-speed manual transmission is standard, while a new dual-clutch automatic with paddle shifts is also available for the first time. The Juke is also offered with a "D-Mode" which allows drivers to cycle between three drive modes – Standard, Eco, and Sport. The Juke retains its trademark circular headlamps design, but with a refreshed new twist: the lights now feature a Y-shaped LED signature which complements Nissan ‘V-Motion’ grille. Along the flanks, 19-inch wheels give an imposing and athletic stance, while a 'floating' roof design and sharply-creased side panels give it a snazzy and sporty outlook. On the inside, the Juke brandishes more upmarket materials and equipment this time around: ambient lighting and new soft-touch materials on the dashboard, door trim, and footwell deliver a more premium feel. The Juke has the most advanced infotainment system ever fitted to a Nissan. The NissanConnect infotainment system utilises an 8-inch touch screen display and offers Apple CarPlay or Android Auto smartphone integration. Separately, there is also an app to control and monitor the Juke, and in-car WiFi (available in early 2020). In terms of driving assistance, the Juke is offered with Nissan’s ProPilot driving assistance suite which is made up of smaller technologies such as Lane Keep Assist with steering assistance and Active Cruise Control. Other active safety systems include Emergency Braking with Pedestrian and Cyclist Recognition, Intelligent Speed Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Intelligent Lane Intervention, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Blind Spot Intervention. Nissan has commenced production at its Sunderland plant in the UK. Since the new Juke has been developed specifically for European markets it will be the only production site (for the foreseeable future) for the second-generation Juke.
