Ferrari F8 Tributo Launched In Malaysia – From RM1.068 Million Before Taxes

Naza Italia, the official importer of Ferrari vehicles in Malaysia has launched the F8 Tributo. The F8 Tributo replaces the 488 GTB, and is the latest in a long line of Ferrari mid-engined V8 sportscars; a legacy that started with the 308 GTB back in 1975.

The name pays homage to the model’s layout and the award-winning (F154) engine that powers the car. Tucked in behind the driver is a 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 that delivers 720 hp (50 hp more than the 488 GTB) at 8,000 rpm and a whopping 770 Nm of torque at 3,200 rpm. Thanks to advancements in turbo and engine management technology, Ferrari claim that there is virtually no turbo lag with the F8 Tributo.

And the numbers don’t lie: just 2.9 seconds for the 0-100 km/h sprint, 0-200 km/h in 7.8 seconds, and a top speed of 340 km/h.

The F8 Tributo is 40 kgs lighter than the 488 GTB, thanks to additional lightweight components – chief of which, is a Lexan rear engine cover, a design element borrowed from the legendary Ferrari F40.

As with the 488 Pista, the F8 Tributo’s aero package is directly evolved from the track and it adopts several design features from the 488 Pista and 488 Challenge racecar that are designed to help improve downforce, lower drag, and manage engine heat more efficiently.

At the front, the new S-Duct (first seen on the 488 Pista) alone contributes to a 15 percent increase in downforce. Slimmer headlights also meant cooling ducts for the brakes could be incorporated – which along with intakes in the bumper – vastly improve airflow over the wheel arches. Better brake cooling also meant Ferrari didn’t have to install bigger brakes to deal with the additional power.

Towards the rear, dynamic engine air intakes are positioned at either side of spoiler, instead of on the rear flanks, for more efficient airflow. Further back, a ‘blown’ active rear spoiler now wraps around the taillights. Dual-taillights also make a comeback, a design feature last seen on the Ferrari F430.

The F8 Tributo also boasts the latest version of the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer (FDE+) which is activated in the Manettino toggle’s ‘Race’ position for the first time, a feature designed to make performance on the limit easier to reach and control for a greater number of drivers. It also sports the latest version of the Side Slip Angle Control (6.1) system, which as you might surmise, allows the driver to go sideways in a controllable manner.

On the inside, it's typical Ferrari fare with a driver-focussed cabin layout. But, almost every element: the dashboard, door panels, and central tunnel are different from the 488 GTB. Elsewhere, a smaller steering wheel (for faster inputs) and a new 7-inch passenger display round off the new highlights.

The F8 Tributo base price starts off at RM 1.068 million, excluding duty and customisation options.
