Frankfurt 2017: Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet Concept – Full EV, Haute-Couture Luxury

The recent Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance played host to the unveiling of the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet, which is inspired by the equally beautiful Vision 6 Coupe concept from 2016.

But the ongoing 2017 Frankfurt Motorshow however, gives us the clearest glimpse yet, of just how staggeringly beautiful the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet really is.

A celebration of beauty and astute engineering prowess - The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet is designed from the ground up as an electric car.

The drive system has an output of 750 hp. Power is sent to all four wheels through four compact permanent magnet synchronous electric motors, one at each wheel.

The shallow underfloor battery is claimed to deliver a range of over 500 kilometres according to the NEDC cycle. Performance isn’t sluggish either, with a 0-100 km/h sprint achieved in 4.0 seconds and an electronically governed top speed of 250km/h.

The vehicle is also equipped with a quick-charge function which allows DC charging based on the Combined Charging System (CCS) – offering a charging capacity of up to 350 kW.

Additionally, the Vision 6 Cabriolet can be charged to achieve an additional 100 km range after just five minutes of socket time.

The Vision 6 Cabrio measures 5700 mm in length from tip-to-toe of its boat tail silhouette, 2100 mm in width and a low 1340 mm in height – identical to the Coupe’s length and width. It's finished in the dazzling Nautical Blue Metallic paintwork. The 24-inch multi-spoke alloys with a Rose Gold centre lock also provide a touch of exclusivity.

The interior is inspired by modern flowing contours and trimmed in authentic materials to exude a feeling of premium luxury. The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet takes the Chesterfield seat design to a whole new level – with individual ‘Three-pointed star’ buttons within the quilting, backlit in blue. The open-pore wood floor with inlaid aluminium is supposed to underscore the Vision 6 Cabrio’s connection to yachting.

The Vision 6 Cabriolet projects important driving information, such as navigation, onto the windscreen via two head-up displays. The continuous glass strip, that runs the length of the dashboard, doors and rear spaces of the cabin is called the '360° luxury lounge' and beams stylish display graphics. The retrospective instrument cluster combines 'hyperanalogue' digital displays in the background with real dial needles.

Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer of Daimler AG comments, “The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet takes modern luxury into the realms of the ultimate in luxury and is the perfect embodiment of our design strategy. Breath-taking proportions combined with a luxurious "haute couture" interior help to create the ultimate experience”.
