The Honda City is still the undisputed leader in the B-segment, with cumulative sales of its 300,000 units in Malaysia since its introduction 17 years ago.
Honda Malaysia has sold more than 155,300 units of the 4th generation City since its introduction in 2014. The refreshed City was introduced in March 2017, and more than 48,900 units have been sold since then till August 2018.
Between January to August 2018, the sales of the Honda City contributed 30% to the overall sales for Honda Malaysia, capturing a 51% market share along the way. In that same period, sales of the City increased 16% compared to the same period in 2017.
In that 8-month period, the mid-range E variant of the City was the most popular variant amongst buyers, with a 44% share. The range-topping V variant was trailing behind with a 33% share. 49% of the sales came from the Central region, followed by the Southern region at 20% and Northern region at 19%.
