Honda Malaysia Issues Recall For Another 46,710 Vehicles

Honda Malaysia has issued another recall for a total of 46,710 vehicles in the country, and is urging affected owners to have their vehicles brought in and inspected by any of its authorised Honda dealerships

The recall surrounds the on-going Takata airbag inflators global scare, to which Honda Malaysia wishes to announce that it will replace all affected airbag inflators with newly produced ones. In May, the company issued a recall for some 87,182 units, for the same issue.

At the same time, Honda Malaysia has announced that all owners of the brand’s latest range of models haven’t been affected by this recall.

The current recall can be split into two segments: the first 26,186 units being affected by a front passenger airbag inflator, the remaining 20,524 units by driver airbag inflator. Here’s a list of the specific Honda models affected.

Of the 26,186 units affected by a faulty front passenger airbag inflator:

  • Honda City: Manufactured between 2008 and 2009
  • Honda Civic: Manufactured between 2007 and 2009
  • Honda CR-V: Manufactured between 2007 and 2008
  • Honda Jazz: Manufactured between 2007 and 2009

Of the 20,524 units affected by a faulty driver airbag inflator:

  • Honda Accord: Manufactured 2003 to 2007

*Don't forget to check the first recall issued by Honda Malaysia in May, involving 87,182 units.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported yet, as Honda Malaysia continues informing all affected customers by notifications letters.

Again, in an attempt to prevent any harm or injury caused by this matter, Honda Malaysia is urging all affected Honda owners to bring in their vehicles to an authorised Honda dealer for an inspection.

All costs involved in this recall will be borne by Honda Malaysia, and rectification works will be carried out as soon as the parts are available.

Vehicle owners can also check their vehicle’s product update status by calling Honda’s Toll Free number 1-800-88-2020 or by logging on to www.honda.com.my.
