If you’ve been waiting for the arrival of Mercedes-Benz’s all-new W213 E-Class, the date to mark on your calendar is 9 June 2016.
Information at our disposal is rather cloudy, although Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) is already beginning to seed interest in a specifically-designed microsite accessible through the company’s official website.
Reliable sources have revealed to us that new E-Class will launch as a fully-imported model, although the vehicle will be locally assembled for the long term.
Globally, Mercedes-Benz offers a wide range of petrol and diesel engines of various capacities and output. Our speculation is that MBM will start off the offensive with the four-cylinder petrol models powered by the company’s M274 2.0-litre turbo engine powering the E 200 (184hp), E 250 (211hp), and may be even E 300 (252hp).
A 3.5-litre V6 flagship is also possible, and we believe the case for a tax free diesel-powered E 300 BlueTec Hybrid (or an equivalent variant for this generation) is likely being explored for introduction with local assembly.
