Perodua Sold One Car Every 17 Seconds One Day In November

If you feel Proton has been stealing on the thunder with its X50, think again, because Perodua just closed on a stellar month in November, posting sales of 23,119 cars in the month, including an impressive 5,027 units in a single day on the 30th November – the most it has ever registered in a single day.

This new single-day sales record means that a new Perodua was bought every 17 seconds on November 30th.

“Our November sales represents a slight normalising from the previous two record months we had – 25,035 units in September and 26,852 units in October. Yet the accomplishment is impressive given the challenging economic climate and new normal operating procedures brought about by COVID-19. And our 5,027-unit one-day record shows what resilience, persistence and adaptability can bring,” added Perodua President and CEO Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad said.

A total of 6,295 Myvis, 6,318 Axias, 6,224 Bezzas, 2,617 Aruz and 1,665 Alzas found new owners in November – the Axia pips the Myvi by 23 units to become the most successful model in Malaysia in Nov 2020.

Perodua has sold over 195,000 cars so far this year. Based on its sales momentum, the carmaker is on track to meet its 210,000-unit year-end registration target despite the slowdown in the first half of the year.

Dato Zainal also reiterated that Perodua’s two main priorities at present are to ensure its customers can get their cars before year-end to enjoy the sales tax-exempt prices and to further bolster the Malaysian automotive ecosystem with their economies of scale in these challenging times.
