Refreshed 2015 Suzuki Swift Opens For Bookings In Malaysia

Suzuki Malaysia has just announced on its social media page that bookings for the new 2015 Suzuki Swift are now being taken, and more recently, has supplied us with a few more details to share with you.

Previously, we showed you a unique Suzuki Swift spotted at the Empire Shopping mall, sporting a few traits (front bumper, rear bumper, side skirts) from its hotter Swift Sport cousin. Speaking to a sales consultant there, we were told that was a GLX (top-spec) model. We spoke to Suzuki Malaysia about it, and their reply was that the unique bits there were purely a dealers’ initiative to decorate a car – nothing official to see there.

Following an invitation to witness the launch of an updated Swift for 2015 (one that got postponed) later, here then is Suzuki Malaysia showing us something more official.

Their call to accept pre-sales orders here shows a new Suzuki Swift no doubt. Three variants have been detailed for us, and they are listed as follows, with their estimated OTR prices + GST, but without insurance:

• Suzuki Swift GA: RM59,000
• Suzuki Swift GL: RM65,000
• Suzuki Swift GLX: RM73,000

As expected, this is a very mild update to the existing third-gen Swift we first saw launched in 2013.

Suzuki Malaysia has shared with us a gallery of the new top-sped Swift GLX (see below) but have also detailed the remaining variants for us. Here's a look at what the highlights of each variant are:

Suzuki Swift GA: Available in only one body for now (Bayside Blue) the GA is the Swift's latest base version for Malaysia, typically featuring minimal kit, for a lower price point. It's features are considerably less than the other two variants, so buyers may expect 15-inch steel wheels and a tyre repair kit (that's all Suzuki Malaysia has told us for now). Just like the other variants, however, the Swift GA features a slightly updated front bumper design.

Suzuki Swift GL: The mid-spec Swift (previously base) also gets the new bumper design which here, adds a sleek silver garnish, side body turn indicators and an upgrade also to 16-inch alloy wheels. The interior gets the familiar basic audio system and manual air-conditioning controls. Colour options include Supreme Red, Olive Grey, Bayside Blue, Superior White, and a new Lagoon Turquoise colour (as pictured above).

Suzuki Swift GLX: At the top of the range, the GLX gets all that's good to a Swift, but new here are a setd of daytime LED lights, retractable side mirrors with indicators (not new), 16-inch alloy wheels with a unique design, and keyless entry with engine push-start (not new).

What's most appealing about the RM73k-estimated GLX is that Suzuki Malaysia has fitted for the first time a full-on touchscreen headunit to the Swift, inclusive of a navigation system. The infotainment is supplemented by a six-speaker audio system, and automatic air-conditioning.

There are no changes to the powertrain department to speak of, so expect the same 95PS, 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine and four-speed slush box from the existing pre-facelift model.

Other information:

Included in the price of the Suzuki Swift variants are a five-year/ 150,000km (whichever comes first) warranty. Also, all three variants will share common active and passive safety features, which here are: dual SRS airbags, ABS, Brake Assist, and Electronic Brake Force Distribution.
