Here is the new Renault Talisman, the French car maker’s latest D-segment sedan to be offered following a name and teaser reveal at the end of June.
Available in sedan and estate versions (the latter isn't shown here), the Talisman rides on the Renault-Nissan Common Module Family (CMF) architecture with Renault’s 4Control technology allowing for four-wheel steering and active damping.
Controlling and coordinating the various technologies found in the Talisman is the duty of the Multi-Sense, which is responsible for operating the 4Control system, active damping, steering, engine, and transmission with four pre-set settings made available – Comfort, Sport, Eco, and Neutral.
Engine options include two petrol – Energy TCe 150 and Energy TCe 200, and three diesel options – Energy dCi 110, Energy dCi 130, and Energy dCi 160 – with transmission options ranging from a six-speed manual and seven-speed EDC.
In terms of dimensions, the Talisman measures 4.85 metres in length, 1.87 metres in width, and 1.46 metres in height. The front fascia features a chrome grille with the brand’s diamond logo prominently displayed upright. At the sides are uniquely shaped C-shaped daytime lights which extend down to the bumper and depending on the variant selected, the car can be equipped with LED headlights as well.
At the rear, the thin tail light clusters extend towards the centre of the boot and logo which create a “powerful visual signature” and are always switched on to reinforce their visual impact. Ten body colours are on offer along with five alloy wheel designs sized from 16 to 19 inches.
Inside, the cabin is divided into three horizontal planes, accompanied by soft touch materials. Renault say that the Talisman has among the very best rear knee room in its segment (262mm) and boasts a boot capacity of 608dm3 (VDA), one of the segment’s biggest.
One of the highlights in the Talisman is its multimedia equipment. The entry level model gets a 4.2-inch display but higher equipment levels sport the R-Link 2 connected multimedia tablet, with a 7-inch landscape format display and Bose Surround Sound system. Also available is an 8.7-inch portrait format display on the high-end equipment level.
The system features a touch screen display and features navigation, smartphone connectivity, various media inputs, and numerous connection for occupants. It also allows for operation of the Multi-Sense system.
Complementing the Talisman is a range of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) – adaptive cruise control, emergency active braking, lane departure warning, safe distance alert, traffic sign detection with excess speed warning, blind spot alert, reversing camera, automatic dipped and main beam headlights, head-up data display, electronic handbrake, hands-free boot, and hands-free parking assist.
The Renault Talisman goes on sale in Europe at the end of the year.
