The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) has seized up to seven vehicles at the Penang International Airport recently, following a three-day operation there to catch these law breakers.
According to The Star, the vehicles were reported to be used for a public transportation service, but doing so without a permit. SPAD had reportedly spent the three-days operation on monitoring the situation closely, before acting on the involved drivers.
SPAD’s Head Of Enforcement Division Major General, Datuk Paduka Che Hasni Che Ahmad, exclaimed that those who are caught providing such services without authorisation and the right permits to do so, could face a fine of up to RM10,000, or be jailed for up to a year, or both.
