2013 BMW X1 2.0 sDrive20i SUV

Very happy with this car. After 5 years driving it, no problem at all.

The X1, in its sDrive20i F48 form, finally looks like a proper crossover SUV, albeit being the little-est sibling in the BMW SAV range. It is powered by the ubiquitous B48 4-pot TwinPowerTurbo engine with twin-scroll turbocharger. At 193 bhp and 280 Nm, this is sufficient to propel the little F48 to a century sprint time of 7.6 secs, which is pretty swift for a car of this type and size. The model I own is the first batch of a mini upgrade done in mid-2018, which includes minor tweaks to the B48A20 engine, change of transmission from a ZF 8-speed conventional auto g'box to a 7-speed wet DCT made by Getrag. Other improvements are the flat bezel-less iDrive display panel, black type speedometer and tachometer and improved LCD panel, electronic gear shifter and a new iDrive controller dial. the engine cover is also changed to one without the BMW roundel badge. Some other cosmetic changes to the dashboard trims which are not piano black with out the red coloured lining. Driving Characteristics / Ride & Handling - Similar to the Mini Clubman, sharp steering - Ride is not too harsh but firm as expected from a Bimmer crossover - Would have been nice to have the the more powerful sDrive28i in Malaysia, that would be just nice Build Quality - Mostly acceptable to me except for the plastic parts such as the center armrest console clip which broke off and I claimed under warranty. the plastics quality could be further improved. That being said, warranty claims are pretty quick and painless, I am thankful for that. Space - Front seats are acceptable for a large framed guy - Driver's position is pretty good and dashboard angled towards the driver - Rear seating space will be pretty tight for more than 2 pax. For 2 adults, its barely ok. I would not recommend this car as a sole family vehicle with older kids. - boot space is pretty good and the lack of a spare tyre means there is additional space hidden beneath the floorboard. In summary, I am quite happy with this little runabout SUV, and would enjoy driving it before the next car, hopefully a 3-series. Kurang

Have been bmw fans so far, tried the entry level BMW X1 and it’s performance is much better than expectation. Will definitely go for higher level BMW later!
