When I mention about polo, most people will think about a VW's mid tier hatchback, not a golf or GTI, good for rally, but not this time, in 2014 Malaysia Volkswagen release a "sedan polo" not as premium as Passat or Jetta, I would say somewhere between a vios or a city. The engine efficiency is not as good as now (vento.) but the highway pickup on this one tough to beat, I feels like you're driving 2.0 in an open highway but you still 1.6 and not even TSI. The inside come standard with a SRS airbag, comfortable seats, basic main control, nothing to fancy but practical, it's a mid range saloon car but have a feel of German premium inside. Final thought..If you like a polo but not hatchback, get this one...but if you don't like polo get a vento, I haven't test drive a vento before but 1.1 engine running turbo, that's something else, it's like Volkswagen answer to hybrid but nah to the Prius or the leaf. At the end between, polo and vento...is the same-ish car but not the same inside, but aren't we all?. Kurang

Unless they have better reliability and good after sales service, don’t fall for the cheap promotion because those cars are placed under tremendous heat of sunlight that will cause faster wear and tear. The car is very agile and nimble. In stock form the engine is capable enough to rival the bigger sibling the Golf GTi. Handling need to be upgraded a little bit. A change to progressive or sport springs and dampers would help tremendously. I find the rear seats very comfortable even for long distances. I have personally drive my 2-door Polo GTi to Koh Samui and Krabi in Thailand with no issues, with full load of 4 pax and 4 cabin size luggage. The car still falls short in Sepang International Circuit during track days because of the dry clutch and the unavailability to tune the wheel alignments. The clutch does get hot and by only 3-4 laps would see clutch slip and due to unable to do camber and toe wheel settings meant that corners in SIC couldn't be tackled with more confidence. Other than that, its a very fun car to drive and I still smile everytime I put the pedal to the ground. Stable and just nice power. Kurang

Plastic all round the cabin but everyday touch point is leather treated - steering, gear knob and mechanical hand brake lever. 2. Classic vw interior, simple but matured. 3. Ergonomics are excellent. 4. Center console slightly bend towards the driver, which is good. 5. Fabric seats provide good ventilation. Drive 1. Poor throttle response, slow pickup compared to rival such as city and vios. 2. 12 sec 0 to 100 time is totally unacceptable for a compact sedan with 105hp and 150nm. 3. Aisin 6 speed torque converter gearbox is sluggish with tendency to hold on to highest gear, kick down in D takes forever. 4. Ride comfort and NVH is excellent, high speed cruising is stable, provided don't drive as you're in a turbocharged polo. 5. Tuning of the engine is inclined towards comfort cruising rather than sporty driving. Maintenance 1. Normal routine service price around rm 600 to 700 at service centre. 2. Major service can go up to rm2k. 3. Quite pricey for 1.6MPI with conventional 6 speed gearbox. 4. Quite problem free compared to DSG cars. 5. 4 years ownership - replace aircond compressor, replace misaligned disc brake, replace leaking headlight and replace aircond blower relay besides routine maintenance Conclusion 1. A good daily car with the German feel, worth considering but may not be a sensible choice as lacking modern technology such as ESC. Kurang

And the Car Body is much more Rugged compare to other car !! That give me lots of confidence to drive it from jb to Kedah ? The chasis, tetap German ? Steady Bom Pi Pi, and mine already over 200k mark, no problem whatsoever and still running like a beauty ? The price for now on second hand market is around 10 - 20k which is a good deal for those who wishes to have a Durable, Reliable, Sturdy, Fuel Efficient car which makes you smile along the journey.
