Toyota Prius 2012

The Toyota Prius Hybrid is the first generation of the Prius Plug-in Hybrid which was launched  in Malaysia in two variants - Standard and Luxury. The Toyota Prius 2012 is the facelift version of the third generation Toyota Prius which comes with several revisions but maintains the Hybrid Synergy Drive system.

The Prius Luxury variant receives several upgrades from the Standard variant including LED projector headlamps with auto leveling and washer for its exterior. The Toyota Prius interior for the Luxury variant is fitted with leather seats, electrochromic rear view mirror and heated leather seats.

The Toyota Prius PHEV or otherwise known as the Toyota Prius Prime is the third generation plug-in hybrid model to be launched in Japan in a single Z grade variant. The Toyota Prius PHEV is powered by a 1VM electric motor which produces 163 PS (or 120 kW) and 208 Nm and paired with the M20A-FXS which produces 151 PS (or 111 kW) and 188 Nm. This produces a total combined output of 223 PS (or 164 kW) with an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (eCVT). The Toyota Prius PHEV’s battery offers a range of up to 87 km with 19-inch wheels or 105 km with 17-inch wheels. The Toyota Prius PHEV is equipped with a solar charging system which Toyota claims can provide enough power to drive up to a range of 1,250 km per year. The solar panel is also used to charge the Prius when parked, supply electricity for driving and air-conditioning and supply the auxiliary battery system to reduce battery consumption when driving.
