The 2017 BMW 3 Series is a car that most of us are familiar with. Sold here in sedan and liftback bodystyles, with prices ranging from RM278, 800 to RM308, 800 for the 3 Series Gran Turismo. It competes in one of the most popular segments in Malaysia that is occupied by the likes of Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4, Lexus IS, Infiniti Q50 and Volvo V60. Two variants are on offer.
The 2017 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo variants are equipped with turbocharged engines, and a ZF sourced eight-speed automatic transmission. Here’s a breakdown of the performance figures:
328i: Powering the 328i is a 2.0-litre turbo four-pot that boasts 245hp and a peak torque of 350Nm. The 328i is able to scoot from a standstill to 100km/h in 5.9 seconds with a top speed of 250km/h. Fuel economy and CO2 emission figures are 6.3-litre per 100km and 147g/km respectively.
320d: The diesel variant features a 2.0-litre turbodiesel power plant that is good for 184hp at 4,000rpm and 380Nm of torque at just 1,750rpm and maintains it all the way to 2,750rpm. The car is able to sprint from 0-100km/h in 7.4 seconds before hitting a top speed of 230km/h. Among both the variants, this boasts the best fuel economy figure of 4.5-litres per 100km.
