The 2017 Chevrolet Colorado faces very stiff competition from models like the Isuzu D-Max, Mitsubishi Triton, Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux Mazda BT-50 and Nissan Navara. This American pick-up truck is sold here in five variants - starting at RM97,053 for the 2.5 STD LT (M) and going all the way up to RM129,189 for the range topping 2.8 High Country Automatic.
Locally, the Colorado is only available in Double Cab form and with permanent 4x4 system. Three turbo-diesel engines are on offer:
- 2.5-litre Duramax (Fixed Geometry Turbo) - 163hp at 3,600rpm/380Nm of torque at 2,000rpm
- 2.5-litre Duramax (Variable Geometry Turbo) - 180hp at 3,600rpm/440Nm of torque at 2,000rpm
- 2.8-litre Duramax (Variable Geometry Turbo) - 193hp at 3,600rpm/500Nm of torque at 2,000rpm
The entry level variant, which is powered by the 2.5-litre Fixed Geometry Turbo is only offered with a six-speed manual transmission, while the other variants with Variable Geometry Turbo units in the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado range feature a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift function.
