The 2017 Honda City competes in the B-segment and rivals models such as the Nissan Almera, Mazda 2 Sedan, Toyota Vios, Mitsubishi Attrage and Ford Fiesta Sedan. Originally launched in 2015, the City received a comprehensive facelift in 2017 that brought about an updated appearance along with improved levels of equipment.
A newly-streamlined three-variant line-up, as opposed to four variants previously, starts with the 1.5S at RM78,300 OTR with GST and insurance. The top of the range model, 1.5 V starts at RM92,000.
Sharing its mechanicals with the Jazz hatchback, the four-door City is powered by a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre inline-four i-VTEC engine with power rated at 120hp at 6,600 rpm and 145Nm of torque at 4,600 rpm. All variants send power to the front wheels via a continuously variable automatic transmission. No mechanical updates were featured in the 2017 facelift.
As part of the 2017 model year update however, all variants of the City now come standard with electronic stability control (VSA), hill start assist (HSA), and keyless entry. The E and V variants additionally get a 6.8-inch touchscreen infotainment as well as paddle shifters.
The new-look 2017 City gets dual tone alloy wheels, redesigned bumpers, and, exclusive to the range-topping V grade - LED headlights, tail lights, and front fog lamps. All variants get integrated LED daytime running lights as standard.
The 2017 Honda City is also covered by a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty, and comes with up to 6 free services (alternating visits, up till 100,000 km). Because VSA is standard across the range, the City now gets a full 5-star rating by ASEAN NCAP regardless of trim.
