The Isuzu D-Max competes in one of the fastest growing segments in Malaysia, which is occupied by models such as the Mitsubishi Triton, Ford Ranger, Mazda BT-50, Nissan Navara and of course Malaysia's best-selling pickup truck, the Toyota Hilux. Sharing its platform with the Chevrolet Colorado, this Japanese pickup truck is offered here in eight variants spread across three trim levels with prices starting from RM80,424.
Engine wise there are two choices - a 2.5- and 3.0-litre turbodiesel unit. The 2.5-litre mill on offer is the 4JK1-TCX that outputs 136hp at 3,600rpm and 320Nm of torque, the latter kicks in at a low 1,800rpm. If customers decide to have their D-Max with this engine then they have an option of having it in either in rear- or four-wheel guise.
The 3.0-litre D-Max variants on the other hand, are powered by the 3.0-litre 4JJ1-TCX turbodiesel mill that is good for 177hp at 3,600rpm and 380Nm of torque from 1,800rpm to 2,800rpm. Four-wheel drive system is standard on all 3.0-litre variants. Transmission options for the 2016 D-Max range include a five-speed manual and a five-speed torque converter type automatic.
