Naza Kia Malaysia's answer to C-segment models like the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla Altis, Hyundai Elantra, Chevrolet Cruze and Nissan Sylphy is the 2017 Cerato. Offered here in four variants and two bodystyles - sedan and coupe, it starts at RM89,680 and RM135,888 respectively.
Two naturally-aspirated four cylinder engines are offered for the Cerato Sedan. The entry-level mill is the GAMMA 1.6-litre MPI mill that outputs 130hp at 6,000rpm and 157Nm of torque at 4,850rpm. If you need something more powerful then there is a 2.0-litre mill to choose, which Kia says is good for 161hp and 194Nm of torque.
The sportier Cerato Koup on the other hand comes packed with a 1.6-litre GAMMA T-GDI turbo four-pot, similar to the one found in the Hyundai Veloster Turbo. Power output is rated at 204hp at 6,000rpm and 265Nm of torque that is available between 1,750rpm and 4,000rpm. Thanks to the added power, this model can complete the century sprint in a respectable 7.4 seconds before topping off at 222km/h.
The sole transmission option for the Malaysian-spec Cerato Sedan and Koup is a six-speed torque converter type automatic.
