The 2017 Kia Rio is a B-segment model that competes with the likes of Honda Jazz, Honda City, Proton Iriz, Mitsubishi Mirage, Suzuki Swift, Ford Fiesta Sedan/Hatchback and Malaysia’s best-selling model the Perodua Myvi. It is offered here in three variants and two bodystyles - sedan and hatchback, priced from RM72,888.
Powertrain option for the locally assembled Malaysian-market Rio is limited to a naturally aspirated 1.4-litre Gamma MPI four-cylinder engine, mated to four-speed torque converter type automatic gearbox. This powertrain is good for 109hp at 6,300rpm and 137Nm of torque at 4,200rpm. Kia claims the Rio is capable of returning a fuel economy figure of 6.0-litres per 100km.
