The 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport is basically the replacement for the now defunct Freelander 2, which means it competes with models such as the BMW X3, Audi Q5, Infiniti QX50, Lexus NX and Jeep Cherokee. Sporting a 5+2 seating layout, this premium compact SUV is available in two variants here - 2.0 Si4 Petrol and 2.2 SD4 Diesel. Price for the former starts at RM399,000, while the latter will set you back RM450,000.
The petrol variant is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that outputs 240hp at 5,800rpm and 340Nm of torque at 1,750rpm. Under the hood of the SD4 Diesel is a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel mill that is good for 190hp and 420Nm of torque.
According to the English marque the petrol and diesel Discovery Sport variants will return a fuel economy figure of 8.3- and 6.3-litres per 100km respectively. Both engines are paired to a ZF nine-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all four corners through the carmaker's Efficient Driveline intelligent full-time four-wheel drive system.
