The 2017 Mazda Biante is a model that slots between the Mazda 5 and 8 in the carmaker’s MPV model line-up. This fully imported Japanese people carrier is an eight-seat 'high-roof' MPV which is aimed at a market that is occupied by the likes of the Honda Odyssey, Nissan Serena S Hybrid, Peugeot 5008 and Toyota Estima. According to the marque, this is their first MPV which features the Skyactiv drivetrain and technologies. Offered only in a sole variant here it carries a price tag of RM145, 718.50.
The 2015 Mazda Biante is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder Skyactiv-G petrol engine that is mated to the brand’s six-speed Skyactiv-Drive automatic geaarbox. With its rated engine power output of 149hp and 190Nm of torque, and equipped with the i-Stop idling start/stop system, the model is claimed to achieve a combined fuel consumption figure of 7.4L/100km.
In terms of kit this it comes equipped with 16-inch alloy rims wrapped with 205/60 series tires, front fog lights, power retractable side mirrors with turn signals, halogen headlamps and dual power sliding doors.
The cabin gets features such as cloth upholstery, leather steering wheel and gear knob, tilt and telescopic multi-functional steering wheel, paddle shifters, front and rear sensors, reverse camera, split folding second and third row seats as well as automatic air-conditioning. In terms of entertainment, there is a four-speaker sound system alongside a seven-inch screen that supports navigation, DVD and USB input. There are also two headrest monitors to keep the rear passengers entertained during the journey.
Safety wise, there are only two airbags in the 2015 Mazda Biante but it benefits from other safety features such as, ABS, Electronic Brake Distribution, Traction Control System as well as Dynamic Stability Control.
