Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia's 2016 Outlander is a seven-seater SUV that is fully imported from Japan. Offered here in a sole variant priced at RM166,720, it competes with models such as the Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, Honda CR-V and Nissan X-Trail.
The only engine option is the marque's naturally-aspirated 2.4-litre four-cylinder MIVEC petrol engine, similar to the one found in the now defunct Lancer Sportback. Power output is rated at 167hp and 222Nm of torque, while the transmission employed is a Jatco-sourced INVECS-III CVT unit. Power is sent to all four corners via an electronically controlled 4WD system as standard. According to an in-house test conducted by Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia, its fuel consumption is said to be as frugal as 7.81-litres per 100km.
