Nissan’s answer to large D-segment sedans like the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, Mazda 6 Sedan, Kia Optima and Peugeot 508 is the 2016 Nissan Teana. Offered here in three variants, the Japanese saloon starts at RM 137,000 with the range topping Teana 2.5XV carrying a price tag of RM167,500.
Two naturally aspirated four cylinder engines are available for customers to choose from. First is a 2.0-litre MR20DE mill that outputs 136hp at 5,600 rpm and 190Nm of torque at 4,400rpm. This engine is offered in the entry- and mid-level variant. Reserved for the top of the line Teana 2.5XV is a 2.5-litre engine that churns out 173hp and 234Nm of torque. Both engines send power to the front wheels via an Xtronic continuously variable transmission.
The entry-level model gets halogen headlights, front fog lamps, power retractable side mirrors with turn signals, leather wrapped tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel, fabric seats, smart entry and push start ignition, cruise control, dual zone auto air-conditioning, split fold rear seats and a six speaker sound system with AUX input.
Moving up the 2017 Nissan Teana range will buy equipment and creature comforts such as auto on/off Xenon headlights, electric sunroof, leather upholstery, rear view camera, power sun shade, LED mood lights and a nine speaker sound system with five-inch infotainment display that supports CD, AUX, USB, iPod and Bluetooth functions.
Safety wise all Teana variants come packed with six SRS airbags, Vehicle Dynamic Control with Traction Control System, Active Understeer Control, high mounted LED rear stop lamp, Hill Start Assist (HAS), ABS with EBD and Brake Assist as well as ISOFIX anchor points.
