The 2017 Proton Saga is a A-segment sedan that competes directly with the Perodua Bezza. Like its bigger brother, the Persona, a total of four variants of the all-new Saga is offered by Proton Edar, with the entry-level 1.3 Standard (M) priced at RM37,800. The top of the range 1.3 Premium CVT starts at RM46,800.
Proton's naturally aspirated 1.3-litre Campro VVT mill, that first debuted in the Iriz is the sole engine offered for this A-segmenter. Power output remains identical to the outgoing model, at 94hp and 120Nm of torque, but the national carmaker promises improved fuel consumption, thanks to the variable valve timing technology.
Transmission wise, there is a five-speed manual that is offered only on the entry-level variant, while the rest of the line-up get a CVT transmission.
