The Toyota Camry is currently in its seventh generation and the 2017 model sold here is the new and improved version of the seventh-gen Camry. Available in four variants with prices ranging from RM148,507 to RM169,893, it competes with D-segment sedans such as the Nissan Teana, Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima, Chevrolet Malibu and Ford Mondeo.
Powering the lower displacement Camry variants is the Japanese carmaker's naturally aspirated 2.0-litre four-cylinder VVT-iW mill, which outputs 167hp at 6500 rpm and 199Nm of torque at 4,600 rpm. It is paired to a six-speed torque converter type automatic transmission with Super ECT and a sequential shift option.
The hybrid variants pack a two-motor full hybrid Hybrid Synergy Drive System that is comprised of a 160hp 2.5-litre naturally aspirated inline four-cylinder engine and a 143hp electric motor. Total system output is rated at 205hp. Torque output for the combustion engine and electric motor is rated at 213Nm and 270Nm respectively.Toyota claims the 2.5 Camry Hybrid will return an impressive fuel consumption figure of just 5.2-litre per 100km.
