2015 Hyunda Veloster Turbo Opens For Bookings: RM150k Estimated Price Revealed

The refreshed 2016 Veloster Turbo that is expected to make its arrival on our shores midway through April 2015 has now been open for booking by Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM).

This Turbo variant will arrive as a CBU, fully imported from Korea, and is a far more powerful turbocharged version of the Veloster coupe hatch that was first launched in Malaysia in 2012 and is expected to be sold at a starting price of RM150,000. Curiously, HSDM tell us that this price, while estimated for now, is "inclusive of GST" but not insurance.

Performance-oriented changes are abound with power coming from a Gamma 1.6-litre T-GDI four-cylinder engine with direct injection technology, fitted with a high-compression, twin-scroll turbocharger to produce 186PS and 265Nm of torque – the first Hyundai to have this power plant equipped. Sending power to the front wheels is a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission to deliver fast, seamless shifts. It also has a sport-tuned intake system that leads to a more aggressive exhaust note.

The car is dressed in sportier styling details to match its character such as new 18-inch alloy wheels, new front fascia, LED-accented projector headlamps, LED rear lights, sporty two-tone coloured seats, and new exterior colours that includes a limited edition Matte Grey option.

“The Veloster Turbo will continue to appeal to drivers who are looking for a perfect combination of a stylish coupe, powerful yet efficient engine and practical features,” said Mr Lau Yit Mun, Managing Director of Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors.

As with all its new passenger vehicles, HDSM offers an extended warranty of 5-years or 300,000km, whichever comes first, as well as a 24-hour road assist service for new and existing vehicles.

For those of you (including us) who previously dismissed the stylish Veloster for its lacking "ummph," you may now proceed to your nearest Hyundai showroom ;)
