2016 Honda Accord Facelift Previewed To Media

Surprise, surprise. Honda Malaysia has just previewed the new 2016 Accord facelift at Royale Chulan Hotel, Kuala Lumpur to members of the Malaysian automotive media.

Coloured in Honda’s new Obsidian Blue Pearl colour, the new 2016 Accord was shown to us in its range-topping 2.4 VTi-L guise showing off all its external features and design.

Notable enhancements from the outside start with a bolder chrome grille blanked by all-new all-LED headlamps with integrated daytime running lights and bumper-integrated LED front fog lamps. As before, the LED daytime running lights are expected to be standard across the board, but it is unknown if the 2.0-litre models will get full LED lights as well.

Less immediately obvious is re-sculpted bonnet carrying a more pronounced bulge to give the Accord more substantial road presence.

The 2.4 VTi-L display vehicle was also shod in newly-designed 18-inch alloy wheels, but it continues with existing 235/45-size Michelin PS3 tyres. The excellent Lane Watch camera apparently remains, but we wonder if it will trickle down to the 2.0-litre models as well.

Over at the back, the tail lights also get reworked to sport a three-bar LED design akin to the BMW F10 5 Series. The decorative chrome bar now spans thicker and wider across the bootlid, further emphasizing the vehicle’s width.

Interior of the vehicle was closed off to us with doors of the display car locked and windows heavily tinted.

The new 2016 Accord facelift officially opened for bookings earlier this week with a selection of three variants – 2.0 VTi, 2.0 VTi-L, and 2.4 VTi-L. Official launch is scheduled for September.
