2017 Honda Civic Type R Open For Booking – On Display At Sepang This Weekend

The world’s fastest front-wheel drive production car – the 2017 Honda Civic Type R FK8R has been confirmed for Malaysia, and it is on display right now at the Sepang International Circuit in conjunction with the Petronas Malaysia Formula 1 Grand Prix.

All set to be launched in Malaysia soon, the Civic Type R is now open for booking at 21 selected “Honda Sport” dealers nationwide:

Powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged VTEC engine that produces 310 PS and 400 Nm of maximum torque, the FK8R, which is offered only with a six-speed manual gearbox, completed a lap around the Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 44 seconds, making it the fastest front-wheel drive production car to lap the “Green Hell”.

Offered only in Championship White exterior paint in Malaysia, the new Civic Type R comes with a chassis that is 38% more rigid than before, 3-Way Driving Modes (Comfort, Sport  and +R), Adaptive Damper System (ADS), Drive-by- Wire throttle (DBW), Electronic Power Steering (EPS), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), and a newly developed three-way exhaust system.

From what we can see, exterior highlights include an aggressive looking carbon-fibre bodykit, 20-inch aluminium alloy wheels, red Brembo brake calipers, blacked out grilles and air ducts integrated onto the hood and the front bumpers.

The interior and the engine bay were strictly off-limits but we already had a good look at them both when our colleague Kon sampled the Civic Type R in Germany recently.

Fully imported from the U.K, the new Civic Type R’s price has not been disclosed yet, but rumour has is that it will be somewhere between RM250,000 and RM300,000.
