All-New 2016 Toyota Innova To Make World Debut In November 2015

The all-new Toyota Innova is expected to make its global debut in Indonesia very soon, with reports from the Indonesian press estimating that the Innnova’s launch timing could be as early as November this year.

Not much is known about the all-new Toyota Innova yet but judging by the new developments that have been incorporated into the all-new Toyota Hilux and Toyota Fortuner – both related to the Innova – we expect the all-new Innova to be a significantly better car than the outgoing model.

Safety should be high on the agenda and it is quite likely for higher range variants of the all-new Innova to feature seven airbags and electronic stability control (or Vehicle Stability Assist, VSA in Toyota’s terminology).

Underpinning the new generation Innova is an all-new ladder frame chassis that also underpins the all-new Hilux and Fortuner, and it is said to deliver superior refinement, riding comfort, handing without compromising its performance on rough roads – a very important quality for consumers in Indonesia and India, the two main markets for the Innova.

There’s also a new range of GD-series diesel engines but this is not relevant to our market, which will only offer petrol engines.

When will it be launched in Malaysia?

Not so soon. The outgoing generation Innova is assembled in Malaysia and there is little reason to suspect that this arrangement will change for the next generation model.

Typically, local assembly requires a longer lead-time to setup, at least six months after a right-hand drive model’s global debut. The lead-time required could be longer if the level of local content is higher.

In any case, we expect the all-new Toyota Hilux and Fortuner to debut first before the all-new Innova.
