All-New 2018 Mitsubishi Expander Launched In Thailand - Made In Indonesia, 2 Variants

Mitsubishi Motors Thailand has officially launched the all-new Xpander seven-seater MPV in the land of smiles.

Imported from Indonesia, the Xpander is offered in two trims in Thailand:

  • GLS Limited - 779,000 THB
  • GT - 849,000 THB

While the long list of standard features offered in the Thai market includes:

  • Crystal LED position lamps
  • LED tube tail lights
  • Rear spoiler with LED stop lamp
  • Front windscreen with sound-insulation tinting
  • Multi information display
  • Rear air cond vents
  • Dual airbags

The range-topping GLS Limited gets extras like:

  • Leather seats
  • Fog lamps
  • Exterior chrome bits
  • 4.2-inch TFT display with 3D Animation
  • High contrast meter
  • Eco indicator
  • Voice command

Powering the new Xpander is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 105 PS and 141 Nm of torque, paired to a 4-speed automatic gearbox.

Designed as a crossover which combines an MPV’s practicality with SUV-like ground clearance, the Xpander goes against models like the Toyota Avanza, Suzuki Ertiga, and the Honda BR-V in Thailand.

Produced at Mitsubishi Motors new plant in Bekasi Prefecture, West Java Province in Indonesia, the Xpander will eventually be supplied to Nissan, which currently owns a controlling stake in Mitsubishi Motors (34 percent).

That being said, the Xpander is widely expected to form the basis for the next generation Nissan Grand Livina, assuming that Nissan retains the Grand Livina nameplate.
