First shown as a concept at the 2017 Frankfurt Auto Show back in September, BMW has started pre-production of the all-new X7 flagship SUV, codenamed G07.
Production of the all-new BMW X7 has begun at the company’s Spartanburg plant in South Carolina. Knudt Flor, head of the BMW Group Spartanburg plant said, “We are proud to produce the BMW X7 here in Spartanburg, the home of our X models. This is a very special vehicle and our employees are looking forward to yet a further member of the X family. Together with the BMW X7, a total of five BMW X models will be exported from Spartanburg to all four corners of the globe.”
The all-new BMW X7 will undergo various tests in difficult conditions for 12 months leading up to its end-2018 debut.
Like the BMW X5 and X6, the all-new BMW X7 will be produced at BMW's Spartanburg plant. The pre-production X7 models are then handed over to the development department, who will use the X7 for homologation, registration plus diverse testing purposes including endurance tests and test drives under varying conditions.
The new flagship three-row SUV will be challenging the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class and Range Rover.
