Motor Image, the distributor of Subaru vehicles in Taiwan has introduced the all-new Subaru Forester in Taiwan. The model was first shown at the 2018 New York International Auto Show back in March.
The all-new Subaru Forester is powered by a 2.0-litre direct-injection boxer engine that outputs 156 PS at 6,000 rpm and 196 Nm at 4,000 rpm, mated to a CVT-type automatic, now with seven virtual ratios. Power is sent to all four wheels via Subaru’s Symmetrical AWD system.
Built on the Subaru Global Platform, the all-new Forester is the first Subaru model to feature Subaru’s Driver Monitoring System, which uses facial recognition software to identify signs of driver fatigue.
Elsewhere, selected variants of the all-new Subaru Forester are also equipped with the company’s EyeSight driver assistance system that includes automatic pre-collision braking, pre-collision throttle management, adaptive cruise control, lead vehicle start alert, lane departure and lane sway warning. Additionally, the all-new Forester can also be had with Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection (SRVD), Auto Hold, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
X-Mode also makes a return on the all-new Forester, allowing drivers to switch driving modes depending on road conditions. X-Mode optimizes control of the engine, all-wheel drive system, brakes, and other functions to improve driving performance on challenging terrains.
For the Taiwan market, the all-new Subaru Forester is available in four variants:
- Forester 2.0 i-S
- Forester 2.0 i-L
- Forester 2.0 i-S EyeSight
- Forester 2.0 i-L EyeSight
Closer to home, Motor Image has stated that the all-new Subaru Forester will be launched in Malaysia by Q2 2019.
