Rumour has it that the current Toyota Estima, which is also sold under the Previa nameplate by UMW Toyota Motor, will be replaced by an all-new model in late-April 2016.
Blurry scans of unknown origin, depicting renderings of what the all-new 2016 Toyota Estima/Previa might look like, have been circulating around Japanese-language social media space.
Assuming that the renderings are done with fairly accurate insider information, the all-new Estima will still maintain its characteristic egg-shaped silhouette. There will not be any radical changes to its exterior styling.
The front bumper is likely to feature bolder, two-tone colour inverted trapezoidal grille, flanked by a pair of LED headlamps.
As before, the Estima Hybrid variant will get a different front-end styling treatment.
Currently, non-hybrid Estima models are available with two engine options – a 2.4-litre four-cylinder 2AZ-FE VVT-i and a 3.5-litre 2GR-FE Dual VVT-i V6.
The all-new model however, is expected to drop the 3.5-litre V6 option. The 2.4-litre engine is also expected to either be updated or be replaced with another Dual VVT-i equivalent of a similar capacity.
In terms of dimensions, the all-new model is expected to measure 4,800 mm long, 1,820 mm wide, and 1760 mm tall. Compared to the current model, that’s 5 mm longer, 20 mm wider, 10 mm taller. Wheelbase remains the same at 2,950 mm.
