Aston Martin DB 9 GT Revealed, Will Debut At Goodwood Festival

The Goodwood Festival of Speed kicks off today and British car maker Aston Martin will be present at the event with this, the DB9 GT.

Aston Martin say this is the most potent DB9 it has ever devised, armed with an uprated 6.0-litre naturally-aspirated V12 engine boasting 547PS @ 6,750 rpm and 620Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a Touchtronic II six-speed automatic transmission and combined, will get the DB9 GT to 100 km/h from a standstill in just 4.5 seconds before topping out at 295 km/h. As before, Aston’s three-stage Adaptive Damping System (ADS) offers Normal, Sport and Track modes for different driving dynamics.

On the exterior, the DB9’s recognisable design is retained here but with a few GT badges placed on the car. Other unique additions to differentiate it as a GT is a black painted splitter and diffuser, revised headlight and tail lights, and new ten-spoke 20-inch alloy wheels. The brake calipers are now black anodised and there is a GT engraving on the aluminium fuel filler cap.

Buyers can opt for extra personalisation with carbon fibre tail lamp inserts, side strakes, front splitter and rear diffuser; graphite, diamond-turned ten-spoke alloy wheels and alternative brake caliper colours.

Inside, the DB9 GT gets the brand’s Ami II infotainment package which was first introduced in the Vanquish. The system accepts an array of inputs with enhanced connectivity as well. The car retains its 2+2 seating configuration with the seats having the ‘GT’ embroidery. Also found are iridium trim pack and Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel.

As a side note, Aston Martin has also revised its other core models, the Vantage and Rapide S for the 2016 model year as well.
