The all-new second-generation Subaru XV has yet to be launched in here, but Malaysia-built units have already made their way to Thailand and are currently on display at the 2017 Thailand International Motor Expo.
Launched globally at the Geneva Motor Show this March, the all-new XV makes a quick arrival in our region and is actually set for launch in Malaysia tomorrow. Like its predecessor, the XV is being assembled at the Tan Chong Motors Assembly (TCMA) plant in Segambut for domestic consumption and export to Thailand.
Test units have been spotted on Malaysian roads over the last several months, including one sighted by our colleague Eric whilst travelling on the North-South Highway in August.
As seen at the Expo, the XV is being offered to the Thai market in two trim levels, 2.0i and 2.0i-P both powered by a direct-injected 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder Boxer petrol engine with outputs of 156 PS and 198 Nm mated to Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT. All-wheel drive, in best Subaru tradition, is standard.
The second-generation XV is underpinned by Subaru’s all-new Global Platform architecture with a significantly strengthened body shell that improves on torsional stiffness by 70% and collision energy absorption by 40%.
For the Thai market, the base XV 2.0i features the following equipment:
- Halogen reflector headlamps, manual leveling
- Front fog lamps
- LED tail lamps
- 225/60 R17 tyres
- 8-way electric driver seat adjustment
- Keyless entry, engine start/stop button
- Tilt & telescopic steering, paddle shifters
- Single-zone auto climate control
- Fabric upholstery
- Touchscreen infotainment
- Electronic parking brake

The 2.0i-P model, meanwhile, adds
