The facelifted Toyota Vios was launched in Thailand in January, bringing forth a conclusive design update of the current generation model, which was mechanically updated in 2016 with a new engine. The ongoing 2017 Bangkok Motor Show now gives us a clear look at the upcoming model, slated to be launched in Malaysia later in the year.
The facelifted Vios remains mechanically unchanged to the outgoing model, powered by an aluminium-built 1.5-litre (2NR) four-cylinder engine with Dual VVT-i technology, which is good for 107PS and 140Nm. all variants of the new Thai-spec Vios facelift come fitted with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with seven virtual ratios.
Aesthetically, the new Vios comes with a thoroughly revised front fascia, combining the aggressive looking bumper design with sleek front grille proportions. The headlights have been updated too, featuring LED position lights and halogen projectors. There are LED DRLs positioned at the sides of the front bumper now. Round the back, the tail lamps have also been updated, now featuring C-shaped graphics. Dual-tone 16-inch alloys also feature in the range-topping “S” variant.
Inside, the changes are more minimal, but Thai sold models feature varying colour schemes according to variants.
The safety suite of the facelifted Vios features electronic stability control along with dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, and brake assist as standard, across the board.
