BMW Wins Big at the iF Design Award 2017

Having been around for more than 70 years, the iF Design Award is a program that was initially put together to honour the best product designs to come out of Germany.

However, as time progressed, the award program grew, went global, and has become somewhat a big deal of an accolade as far as design is concerned.

That said, this year’s edition of the iF award just closed its curtains yesterday, having attracted entries from more than 50 countries, in 6 disciplines spanning 70 categories.

The category which matters most to us; the Automobile class this year saw the BMW Group emerging as the biggest winner as not one or two, but five brand models received the iF Design Award 2017 in various sub-categories.

The models include the Mini Vision Next 100, the Rolls-Royce Vision Next 100, the BMW Motorrad Vision Next 100, as well as the BMW Concept X2.

But the biggest award of the night - the coveted “iF Gold Award 2017” went to the new BMW 5 Series Sedan (G30) in the Automobiles category.

The jury panel comprising 58 international design experts decided that the “iF Gold Award 2017”, the highest accolade bestowed by the renowned “International Forum Design”, should go to the BMW 5 Series Sedan for its innovative concept and dynamic, elegant design.

In their judgement, the jury emphasised above all the clear precision of the sporty design, the brand-related recognisability of both interior and exterior as well as the balance between emotionality and visual presence.

The accolades were awarded within the framework of the festive iF Design Awards Night 2017, taking place for the sixth time at the BMW Welt in Munich.
