CKD Mercedes-AMG Coming Soon To Malaysia!

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s strong push for localization continues with an unlikely candidate.

In the latest Malaysian Automotive Association’s (MAA) monthly production report, details have emerged that Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s (MBM) Pekan plant has started the assembly of 77 units of a certain model labelled as ‘Mercedes-Benz C43’.

As the C43 model name is only available as a Mercedes-AMG model, this looks to be the first local-assembly program of Mercedes-AMG models in Malaysia.

Currently, MBM offers the fully-imported Mercedes-AMG C43 4Matic Sedan priced from RM499,888 and the Coupe from RM548,888.

Last month, Mercedes-Benz Thailand announced the offering of their own CKD of the Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe. The 43-series are easier to CKD as the engines are not hand-assembled unlike the ones available in the 45-series, 63-series and 65-series.

No further details are available at this point in time, but we suspect the Pekan-CKD C43 should be the 2018 facelift variant with a boost of output to 385 hp.
