Home News Auto News Honda Malaysia Confirms Takata Inflater Ruptured in Crash Honda Malaysia Confirms Takata Inflater Ruptured in Crash Auto News Aswan | September 29, 2016 02:54 am Honda Malaysia has issued a statement confirming the results of their investigation into the death of the driver during an accident on September 24th of 2016. It was found that the Takata single stage (SDI) driver's airbag inflator rupture in the crash, which resulted in the tragic death of the driver. The official cause of death has yet to be determined.The vehicle in question was included in one of the Malaysian Product Recalls that Hond announced on July 10th of last year, which required that owners replace the SDI inflator. The notification letter was sent out to the owner, but there are no records of the repair having been completed.On an additional note, the SPI (passenger side inflator) was also required to be replaced in a recall, but did not rupture in the accident and functioned correctly.
