Auto News

TC Euro Cars (TCEC), the official distributor of Renault vehicles in Malaysia has introduced a limited-edition variant of Renault Captur SUV, dubbed the Trophy.

Available in limited units, the Limited Edition Captur Trophy is priced the same as the base Captur model at RM107,980 (OTR inclusive of SST, without insurance).

The Captur Trophy adds on a number of additional equipment such as the Vibrant Orange Trophy colour, reminiscent of the iconic Megane R.S model, sporty front and rear bumper spoilers finished in gunmetal colour, and 3D ‘chequered flag’ decals along the flanks of the car. The Captur Trophy additionally receives the Hands-free power tailgate function, which has proven popular with Captur customers.

Under the hood, the Limited Edition Captur Trophy features the same (TCe 120) 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine which produces 120 PS and 205 Nm of torque from 2,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The new Captur Trophy is also available on Renault Subscription. Under the Fixed Plan, the Captur Trophy is available from RM1,499 monthly for the two-year subscription package and RM1,699 monthly for the one-year plan. Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia Enhances Triton, Introduces Triton Quest At RM 79,890

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia Enhances Triton, Introduces Triton Quest At RM 79,890

Auto News

It feels like just yesterday, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) had finally managed to launch the current generation Triton after multiple roadblocks and hold ups following the previous general election. Coming to the end of 2019, MMM has decided to provide minor updates and enhancements for their Triton variants, as well as launch the Triton Quest workhorse variant.

The enhancements are fairly easy to get through, so we’ll address them first. The Triton Adventure X now comes with an All Round Monitor, which is a great aid when it comes to parking in tight spots – especially with a large pickup truck. For those unfamiliar with the term, the All Round Monitor stitches together the views of various external cameras to provide a “birds-eye view” of the car when parking.

In addition to this, the Adventure X variant also gets a Driving Video Recorder – essentially a built in dash-cam – which helps to record any potential incidents on the road, as well as side body stickers and a premium solar and security tint.

One step below, the Triton AT Premium also gets the Driving Video Recorder, as well as leather seats, and a 7-inch touchscreen head unit with Apple Carplay and Android Auto as standard. The rest of the range retains the same specifications that you’ve come to expect from Mitsubishi’s ever popular pickup truck.

Moving on to the Triton Quest, it’s a name that some may be familiar with if you’ve stuck around long enough. The Quest is essentially Mitsubishi’s most basic, workhorse variant of the Triton – but don’t assume that means it is bare bones.

Powering the Quest is a robust 2.5-litre turbodiesel engine, which pushes 110 PS and 200 Nm of torque – not quite the performance of the more lifestyle oriented variants, but you can count on this engine to keep on ticking no matter what punishment you throw at it. The load capacity is a whopping 970 kilograms, inclusive of passengers and cargo, which means it has the largest cargo deck in class.

The turning radius has always been a strong point of the Triton, and in this case it pulls off a turning radius of just 5.7 metres. It’s also only available in the 4x2 variant with a 5-speed manual, but for workhorse duties and as a low rider you don’t expect to need the capabilities of a 4x4. It sits on 15-inch alloy wheels after all, but it does manage to keep halaogen projector headlamps with automatic levelling and a rear fog lamp. You can only get it in a White Diamond paint colour.

What’s retained from other variants is the array of safety features. In addition to dual SRS airbags, ABS, and EBD, there is also seatbelts with pretensioners, auto speed adjustable wipers, auto door relock system, open door alarm, and a power window timer. There’s even a Multi-Information Display that provides information such as mileage and range, service reminders, fuel range, and average fuel consumption.

For now, pricing of the entire Mitsubishi Triton model range is as follows:

Variant Price (RM) Colour
Triton Adventure X 137,900.00 White Diamond, Jet Black Mica
Triton AT Premium 121,000.00 White Diamond, Graphite Gray
Triton MT Premium 112,500.00 White Diamond, Graphite Gray
Triton AT 105,990.00 White Diamond, Sterling Silver
Triton MT 100,200.00 White Diamond, Sterling Silver
Triton Quest 79,890.00 White Diamond

First Of Its Kind McLaren GT Launched In Malaysia – From RM908k

Auto News

The latest and most luxurious model of the McLaren range has made its entry into the Malaysian market – dubbed the GT; it's designed for customers who want trademark McLaren performance, along with the comfort and usability of a grand tourer.

In essence, the GT breaks new ground in terms of being the only mid-engined sports car that has the ability to pack a golf bag and a weekend’s worth of luggage.

It now complements other McLaren thoroughbreds such as the 570S Coupe and Spider, 600 LT Coupe and Spider, and the 720S Coupe and Spider – all of which, are officially offered here through the Malaysian sole distributor, Mc Farren Supercars.

The GT tips the scales at just 1,530 kg (much lower than other grand tourers such as the Bentley Continental GT and Ferrari Portofino) thanks to its new carbon fibre MonoCell II-T (monocoque) chassis, which additionally offers a low centre of gravity, increased agility, and a stable ride. In traditional McLaren fashion, every component is evaluated for its form, function, and weight savings to deliver an ideal balance of power and weight.

The GT is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 that delivers 620 PS and 630 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch (called Seamless Shift Gearbox- SSG), which powers the rear wheels. The GT is offered as standard with fully-independent Adaptive Damping, Launch control, and the McLaren brake steer system. Four-pot calipers which clamp on steel brakes at all four corners.

In terms of performance, the GT completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.1 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 9.0 seconds and has a top speed of 326 km/h. Fuel efficiency is rated at 11.9 L/100km accordant to WLTP standards.

On the inside, the GT is offered as standard with Carbon Black Nappa leather seats and a leather steering wheel. Taking centre stage is the McLaren Infotainment System II (MIS II), made up of a 7-inch portrait touch screen monitor, and a 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster. Dual-zone climate control and a McLaren 4-speaker audio system are also standard fares.

On the outside, the smooth and sleek GT features Full LED headlights at the front and sequential LED taillights. The display unit seen here is fitted with the optional 15-Spoke 20/21-inch (front/rear) alloy wheels, wrapped in Pirelli tyres. Dihedral doors with soft close function and a glazed rear tailgate with are supplied as standard.

As with any McLaren, the optional extras are as diverse as the standard features themselves – the display unit during the launch also features options such as a rearview camera and panoramic privacy tinted glass roof, customers may also spec a monochromic glass roof if they desire.

The McLaren GT is priced at RM908,000 before taxes and options.

Separately, the GT’s launch also coincided with the launch of the McLaren Kuala Lumpur showroom. Situated in Glenmarie, Shah Alam, the 4,520 square-feet facility conforms to the latest generation McLaren design and brand identity.

The showroom includes a fully-functioning service centre and is equipped with the McLaren interactive car configurator which offers customers an in-depth perspective when customising their vehicles.

Another new design feature is the McLaren Window, which provides a unique view of the McLaren Production Centre (MPC) back in Woking, England.
