This bars any and all interstate travel excepting certain exceptions. The decision was made after the latest National Security Council meeting, which took place earlier today. Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin however (and with some ambiguity) said that all economic sectors are allowed to operate as usual. The exceptions for interstate travel include: Travel for emergencies, medical reasons, work, economic reasons, vaccination appointments and for long-distance couples. The latest range of restrictions are as follows: Maximum of three occupants in a vehicle except for commercial vehicles All gatherings banned (except for Akad Nikah with mandatory cap on participants) All sporting activities except for activities conducted individually such as jogging and cycling All educational institutions closed except for students facing international examinations, pre-school, and daycare No dining in, take away allowed No more than 30 percent of management staff allowed in the office No house visits, rumah terbuka and gravesite visits during Hari Raya celebrations Congressional Aidilfitri prayers allowed – (50 pax or less for (normal) venue capacity of more than 1,000, 20 pax or less for any (normal) venue capacity of less than 1,000. Prayers/occasions at non-Muslim places of worship will be restricted (guidelines will be announced) These measures, according to the Prime Ministers are in response to newer, and more contagious variants of the COVID-19 virus and data and science are behind Putrajaya’s latest wave of restrictions. Additionally, the Prime Minister reportedly also announced further “special measures” of the latest MCO 3.0 for the states of Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan.
