New All-Electric Mercedes-Benz EQC Interior Teased, Tuesday Premiere

Mercedes-Benz has just released another online teaser of their all-electric EQC SUV, this time showing the EQC’s interior. The company earlier showed a short glimpse of the rear design of the new all-electric premium SUV.

While the exterior of the vehicle is largely based on the popular Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class SUV, the dashboard gets a completely new design. Seen in the photo is the layout of their now-signature dual-LCD Widescreen Cockpit, with newly designed rectangular air-conditioning outlets, breaking the norm of the circular-shaped designs.

It looks like the design elements of the EQ Concept SUV have been carefully replicated into the production EQC.

The display screen for infotainment is also displaying the ‘home image’ for the company’s latest MBUX interface that premiered in the all-new A-Class.

Moving our focus to the lower console highlights a different COMAND touch pad. The design, squarer and slimmer in this EQC is closer to the one found in the new A-Class and upcoming GLC F-Cell.

Another interesting note is a switch that resembles a paddle-shifter on the steering wheel.

To recap, EQ (electric intelligence) is Mercedes-Benz’s new sub-brand that encompasses all future battery-electric cars as well as the associated products and services. The first product from the all-electric brand will be the said EQC SUV, followed by the A-class-sized compact called the EQA later. In total, more than ten new electric passenger cars are scheduled to be launched by 2022.

Earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia brought over the one-and-only Concept EQ for a quick demonstration and display purposes. In the Concept EQ, the all-electric SUV similar in size to the Mercedes-Benz GLC-class is capable of going up to 500 kilometres on a single charge, with a 70 kWh lithium-ion battery. With 700 Nm of torque and 402 hp on hand, the Concept EQ can perform the benchmark 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in under 5 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz will make the global unveiling in Stockholm, Sweden on Tuesday, and has also announced that sales of the new EQC will only be starting in 2019.
