New Toyota Vios coming soon? 'Defy' teaser by UMW Toyota

Our hearts and ears are still ringing from the five Toyota GR car launches last week, and UWW Toyota has already released a new teaser of yet another new model. Will this be the new 2023 Toyota Vios?

We can't confirm anything just yet, but talks about the new Toyota Vios coming to Malaysia has been getting hotter (since last year, actually). We all know that a new-generation Vios is indeed coming this year, but the teaser also included a date - 24 February 2023. Yes, this Friday.

DNGA platform + CVT + same 1.5-litre engine?

The fourth-gen Toyota Vios has already been launched in Thailand called the Yaris Ativ as well as Indonesia (it's also called the Vios there) where both of them are built on the latest Daihatsu New Global Platform (DNGA). We've seen some impressive models using this platform like the Perodua Ativa and Axia, which also means that the upcoming Vios will offer an entirely different look and feel - one that we're quite excited about.

As for the engine, we will most likely get the same 2NR-VE 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine that churns out 106PS and 1438Nm of torque, not the 1.2-litre 3NR-VE unit found in Thailand's Yaris Ativ. Although the engine might be the same, the new Vios will also come with an updated CVT gearbox. The outgoing model kicks out 107PS and 140Nm of torque.

Looking at the timeline, it is very likely that the new Toyota Vios will be launched before the start of the fasting month. Perhaps, there will be some stock in the showrooms to deliver to some of the very first lucky customers for Raya 2023? Macam best.
