New York 2019: All-New Hyundai Venue Unveiled

Hyundai has unveiled the latest member of its growing SUV lineup at the ongoing 2019 New York Auto Show. The Hyundai Venue is a new entry-level SUV, which will slot in just under the Kona SUV.

The snazzy Venue, which borrows several familial design elements from the Kona and Nexo – measures 4,036 mm long, 1,770 mm wide, 1,565 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,520 mm. This puts it right alongside other B-Segment SUVs such as the Mazda CX-3 and Renault Captur in terms of size.

Under the hood is a 1.6-litre (Smartstream Gamma) four-cylinder engine that produces 122 hp (est.) and 153 Nm (est.) of torque. The engine is paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or CVT-type automatic that distributes power to the front wheels. The automatic transmission in the Venue – dubbed Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) – is Hyundai’s first ‘in-house’ CVT transmission.

On the inside, the Venue will feature convenience features such as Dual USBs, a 3.5-inch TFT instrument cluster, and Bluetooth connectivity. An 8-inch central touchscreen infotainment unit will also offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.

In terms of active safety technology, the Venue will be equipped with Forward Collision Warning and Assist, Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW), Rear Cross-Traffic Warning (RCCW), and Driver Attention Warning (DAW). A ‘Snow’ drive mode is also offered for driving in slippery conditions.

The Venue will be built in Ulsan, Korea and will arrive in Hyundai dealerships in the US beginning in Q4 of 2019.
