Subaru BRZ STI Performance Concept Unveiled At 2015 NYIAS

At the 2015 New York International Auto Show, Subaru brought out this menacing looking concept called the STI Performance Concept. Keen eyes will spot that it is based on a Subaru BRZ but this one has been fiddled with and it isn’t just for looks either.

The stock engine is now replaced by a racing powerplant in the form of a STI-tuned EJ20 2.0-litre four-cylinder single-scroll turbo that powers the BRZ GT300 from the Japan Super GT series. Power output is rated at 345hp and 450Nm of torque sent through a six-speed gearbox to the rear wheels.

Other performance enhancements include the suspension, brakes, aerodynamic body kit, and exterior aerodynamic upgrades. The interior features an Alcantara steering wheel and Recaro seats.

Ever imagined what a BRZ STI would look like? This is it. Unfortunately, it is merely a one-off concept and is not for sale. Sorry.

Last year, Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the manufacturer of Subaru automobiles developed a plan to enhance the Subaru Tecnica International (STI) brand in its product strategy and with the presentation of the STI Performance Concept, you could be looking at an expansion of the STI-brand aftermarket parts and introduction of complete STI-tuned cars.

Subaru’s largest market is in the United States and in the motorsports arena, STI will increase its engineering presence in Subaru of America's Global Rallycross team.
